Two Amur tigers were killed in Primorye in a fight with a bear

In the opinion specialists, the possible reason for that occurred could be the attack on the tigress by a brown bear.
For the first time tigress Vera (Faith) was caught and marked by radio-collar in 2002. After the expiration of the earlier collar, in 2007, the tigress was caught for a second time and equipped with a new collar. At the moment of loss the tigress were eight years of age. Supposedly, it had two tiger cubs against the age of 17-18 months.
Before the upper flow of cluster right midday basi river Columbus on February 17, 2010 were found the remains of the radio-marked tigress Ani and its radio-collar. The tracks from the teeth of a large predator were clearly visible on the collar. The specialists of department also consider a collision with a brown bear as the probable reason for the loss of tigress life.
The tigress Anya was caught and was radio-collared before the mouth of cluster Alkaline soil (basin of river wetland) in November 2009 at the age of 1.8 years. At the moment of capture it was fishing with its brother and mother. Possibly, the young tigress was in search in the region of the basin river Columbus for its own territory. Judging according to the data, taken based on the GPS- collar, the loss of the predator began 10 on December 11, 2009.
Sikhote-Alin State Biosphere Nature Reserve was organized on February 10, 1935 and is a unique natural treasure of Russia. The initial purpose of its creation was the retention and the restoration of the almost exterminated at that time sable. At present, the preserve is the most convenient place for conducting the observations of the Amur tiger. Sikhote-Alin Reserve was also first natural park before the Far East, included UNESCO in the world system of biosphere preserves.
