Enemies, diseases, parasites, mortality and competitors. Except for hunters, bears have almost no enemies. Primor'e territory constitutes an exception, where the Ussuri tiger may be an enemy, most often attacking bears in winter, in the hibemaculum. Since tigers are almost extinct, such cases are rare and do not have any actual significance. In Caucasus preserve, in June 1931, it was recorded that a leopard killed two small bears. However, this animal is also extremely rare here.
Mammals of the Soviet Union, Volume II, part 2a, Heptoer & Naumov, 1988 .

Now I remember the story (thanks Warsaw). There's a photo (poor quality) of the small dead bear - see fig. 144 - looks like a small discarded child's jacket thrown onto the brush/shrubs. As the authors point out, very unusual.

I think this is a another incident, quoted in Mammals of the Soviet Union, Volume II, part 1a, (Sea Cows; Wolves and Bears). Not in part 2. Yesterday I make a mistake (Part 2a, in fact is Part 1a. Very sorry to Grahhh and Warsaw).

Very sorry to Grahhh and Warsaw). You are correct. I double checked the information. The text is printed the same in 1967, 1972, 1988, and 1992 publications. Original Russian (1967 publication, p.451):В Кавказском заповеднике в июне 1931 года было установлено, что барс задрал лвух небольших медведей. Однако этот зверь здесь также чрезвычайно редок. Online translation in English:In the Caucasian Nature Reserve in June 1931 found that the leopard pulled lvuh small bears. However, this beast is also extremely rare. Phrase (text) from English publication:In Caucasus preserve, in June 1931, it was recorded that a leopard killed two small bears. However, this animal is also extremely rare here. Also..... Translation text:In Aksu Dzhebagly (Talas Alatau) in the forest belt was found 2-year-old bear, and partially eaten zagryzenny IRBIS (Fig. 144). Judging by the signs of a struggle, the bear was caught by a leopard on placer stones, where digging roots. To escape, the bear climbed up the cliff, where he was captured. Leopard ate the back of the body and internal organs and other parts of the skin and did not touch (FD Shaposhnikov, 1956). Here, this predator in the morning kept watch deer that came to solonets. Published English textIn the forest belt of Aksu-Dzhebagly preserve (Talassk Alatau) a two-year-old bear killed and partly eaten by an ounce was found (Fig. 144). Judging from traces of the fight, the bear was taken unawares while digging for roots in a rock stream. It tried to save itself by climbing onto a rock. The leopard had eaten the rear portion of the body and the viscera but had not touched the remainder, or the skin (F.D. Shaposhnikov, 1956). Here this predator had been iying in wait in the early morning for roe deer approaching on a solonetz. About the incident on the Caucasus Nature Reserve, there was no other information provided. Leopards in this area are very rare and the victims are described as two small bears suggesting perhaps older cubs or sub adult (sibling) victims. Caucasus form of brown bear vary in size but again we are talking about brown bear and leopard. As we understand the relationship between adult brown bears and big cats; logic here suggests we are talking about very young victims.

KTKC, there is some confusion over these two events. There are additional sources of information to examine. I will reply/update more.
