I. LENGTH OF SKULL Measure the length of the bear skull parallel to its longitudinal axis. This measurement may include the lower jaw and normal teeth, if that will increase the measurement. II. WIDTH OF SKULL Measure the width of the bear skull at a right angle to its longitudinal axis. This measurement is taken across the zygomatic arches, or cheek bones. III. TOTAL SCORE Total the measurements. When measuring in inches, record fractions in 1/16ths of an inch. Metric measurements are recorded to 0.1http://www.bearhunting.us/2011/06/scoring-bear-for-the-safari-club-international-record-books/ cm.

This is a Kodiak bear skull; it was killed in 1952 at Falls Creek Canyon in Kodiak. The damage to the lower jaw was probably a result of a battle with another bear. Sometimes they will break their canine teeth during a conflict www.sdavisphotos.com/keyword/monument/835330534_YUEHp#!i=835330534&k=YUEHp&lb=1&s=A
