Welcome one, welcome all. It is my hope to create something special and distinct at Shaggy God.
About this forum....
As the forum News Fader reads, "If you are a bear enthusiast, and are interested in everything bears, you have found a home." The hope is to create a FORTRESS URSINAE style forum where persons for example the hardcore enthusiasts, naturalists, university student, academician, blogger, or professional can share information on anything bear related. If you are a person who likes digging through peer review material/scientific literature, university materials, relating foreign literature, and museum archives for information on bears here you are among friendly company. If you like combing through field data and technical reports here you are among friends. If you have worked at a zoo or museum and have relating information this forum encourages you to share them. If you have worked in the park services or have access to field-technical (morphometric & radio collared) data your assistance and input are very much welcomed. If you have access to international material and are willing to share some of the data we encourage you to do so with us.
Scholarly examination and discussion on everything bears is the forum goal. There is NO profit motive in the materials used in this forum. All of the forum material covered is done so in an educational and conservation framework and also in promotional support of like-minded persons, groups, and entities including biologists, zoologists, paleontologists, academicians, conservationists, agencies, institutions, naturalists, photographers, artists, writers, bloggers, etc.
The forum is designed to be flexible and inclusive on almost every topic relating to bears. There are many categories and sub boards where people can add-post to an existing thread, or create a new one tailored to their topic of interest. On the latter, this is one of the structural designs of the forum; to be all encompassing. Many sub boards have the ability or potential to produce voluminous pages of topics/threads.
Transparency is required on all material related posts. No ambiguous data posts. Please try to provide or be prepared to properly cite any data material used. Direct material quotes are preferred to paraphrasing.
If members or visitors have any concerns please contact forum staff.
Although some articles are subscriber access only, hyperlinks are provided. All research and relating material provided (public, private, etc) are open to discussion to forum members.
