I love the broad skulls found in both Kodiak & Kamchatka brown bear populations. Nice detective work. Mature boar Kodiak bears (ditto for Kamchatka bears) are some of nature's most awesome animal spectacles.

It's very interesting to me.That's why some bb skulls looks like this: It's also of interest to me. Eventually, an attempt to organize this kind of brown bear skull data (a lot to collect & organize) should be made. On a relating note, I think people who like to make brown bear skull comparisons to other animals should better understand specimen info along with a stronger understanding of bear biology, nutrition, & distribution.

For forum members & visitors, the author source for the table provided is G. Baryshnikov (2007). Also, Ursus arctos isabellinus & Ursus arctos gobiensis taxonomy confusion exist. In short, we are basically looking at the same brown bear with varying historic distribution. Its population numbers are small and the bears are listed as endangered. Collectively, these mountainous brown bears of central Asia are some of the smallest size brown bears in the world.
